Oakwood House

This new build in East Highland Park beautifully blends the artistic and classic sides of the couple that reside there. It is both modern and elegant, offering a refuge from their professions in the worlds of theater and medicine.

Pure & Simple designed an open environment with a soothing palette of blush tones, watery blues, weathered browns and warm whites. In the kitchen, which opens to the dining room and living room, upper cabinets and hood façade are full overlay white. They appear weightless and seem to float against a wall of white. The lower cabinets of horizontal grained wood in an earthy hue anchor the space. With a mandate of low maintenance, countertops are clad in quartz. Wide-plank wood floors, natural wool rugs, and vintage and contemporary lighting are found throughout the home. Heirloom pieces of furniture that have been treasured for decades are re-purposed and a collection of curated artwork is incorporated in the new environ.

The couple retreat to bedrooms with plush carpeting and fine mattresses. They enjoy lazy afternoons and cozy evenings from the tightly edited cocoon on their private, sleepy little street.
