The Design House

A 1925 English Caldwell home in downtown Ravinia is updated with a fresh look while maintaining original features such as bleached 14-foot planked hardwood floors and timber beam ceilings.

Paint was their best friend in this home! Pure & Simple Interiors whitewashed the mustard colored walls and dark brown woodwork, replaced corian countertops with natural stones that were prevalent in homes built in the 1920's. Reclaimed cobblestones, salvaged from a Pennsylvania railroad station, were transported and installed to replace a concrete driveway. The Design House now serves as home base for the interior design firm and as an art gallery for revolving artists’ works. Vintage and modern pieces of furniture and interesting lighting in classic styles are offset by unique one-of-a-kind accessories, designed by Heller.

Clients and design aficionados wander among charming rooms until inspiration strikes.
